On launch Guake says "Guake is already running"

Reported by: qense Owned by: somebody
Priority: Fix available Milestone: 0.5.0
Component: guake Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

When Guake is lunched, a notification is shown telling you it's running and reminding you of the shortcut you can use to summon it. However, the English wording that is used says it is 'already running', rather than just 'running'. On Launchpad someone suggested this was a translation error.

This bug was first reported by Shahar Or on Launchpad. The original report can be found here:  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/guake/+bug/348018

This is not a translation error nor a bug since when you see this notification guake is actually already running :-)

I close it as not a bug (wontfix), but if you fear I misunderstood it please re-open this bug :)

Thanks for your contribution

The problem with this was that it is often misunderstood. It sounds like Guake was already running when you tried to start it, which isn't the case. Something like 'Guake is now running' would be more appropriate in my eyes.

I do think that it definitely is a bug. When people read that a program is already running they think they've accidentally started it twice. People expect the message to be shown at the same time the program is launched, so I think that "Guake has been started" or "Guake is now running" would be better.

Hehe, I agree that this message sucks. This is the problem when you open it more than 100 times (when developing). You just miss this kind of detail =P

Thank you very much for your contribution guys!
