horiz/vertical terminal multiplexing "a la yakuake"

Reported by: justanotheruser Owned by: somebody
Priority: critical Milestone: 0.5.0
Component: guake Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

Guake can't be my main terminal, because it lacks this one critical functionality.

In all my development environments, I resort to using yakuake despite running Gnome and never having used KDE. Having to install all the miscellaneous KDE packages just for a terminal emulator makes my eyes bleed from the sheer stomach and back pain, but I don't have much of a choice, do I?

This is not a request to turn Guake into "bloatware". Remember ticket #145.

Shelving this feature request as "minor" and calling it a day is bigotry at best, the likes of which only equaled by Unity developers.

Thanks for wishing to improve guake to your taste, but I have to say, you've spent a certain amount of time complaining about it and how it does not fit you and how we are as bad (or good?) as X or Y developers, but at the end, I am still unsure of what you actually requested...

Split windows ? Then we can close this ticket as, as you mentioned, the subject was already discussed on #145.

If you are asking for something else than split windows, then please explain it clearly :-)

Re-reading this, I've just realized how much of an asshole I am.

This is eye-opening, thank you.

That wasn't exactly the point of my answer, would you mind to re-explain what you would like to see in guake?

I am not a yakuake user myself (guess why ) so I am not exactly sure of what you mean from the title of this ticket.

Thanks ! :)

Still, I am such a self-centered asshole that I have come as low as to flame an open-source software I've never even contributed to. It bugs me how stupidingly human I am at times.

Short of this indisputably shitty behavior, I would like to see a Shift+Ctrl+T, a Shift+Ctrl+L and a Shift+Tab in Guake. Namely, horizontal/vertical split of the working terminal (recursively) and quick-switching between them with Shift+Tab. Oh boy, that really is the cherry on top of the tasty strawberry ice-cream cake.

I would donate 10$ towards making this feature available. Is there any bounty that would convince developer(s) to incorporate this feature.

Until then I'm using Yakuake. If developer(s) accept this idea of bounty just let me know how to donate my part.

Cheers.
